Consistency over time is essential. The trick is making sure that what you do consistently supports your goals. If the goal changes, your activities must also shift.
That advice came from Tim Grahl. I’ve just started a new podcast with him and the first episode airs today. It’s a reboot of The Book Launch Show and it’s all about book marketing.
One of the things we discuss is setting business goals and priorities. Since I’m primarily a fiction writer, my marketing activities must be laser focused on my novels. This blog speaks to the editing and non-fiction side of my business and as such I need to set it aside. It’s a bittersweet decision, but one I’m hoping you understand. (I’ll still be around on Twitter (@valerie_francis) if you’re looking for me.)
Why not take this time to reflect on your own business goals. What are you doing consistently to meet them?
